I worked with Larry during the COVID response, and he was such a compassionate and effective lead. I feel so privileged to have been under his tutelage for a brief time. Truly one of a kind. My husband and I have been on a whirlwind family-building journey, and his kind words meant everything to me. We're wishing your family much love.
I worked with Larry for almost 12 years in the OC of NCEH/ATSDR and spent 31 days with him in Guam deployed for Covid, Larry was a font of institutional knowledge and knew someone in just about every department CDC wide. His daughter was the pride of his life he talked about her often. Hoping he has peace now.
Larry and I worked and hung out together when he was with the immunization program years ago, and although we rarely saw each other after he left the program, we continued communicating through email - usually to tell each other humorous stories.  In 1996, we volunteered together for the summer Olympics, I met  and got to know Trish while they were dating, and he honored me by asking me to be best man at his wedding.  At work he was reliable, very good at what he did,  and creative.  Outside, he was a good friend!

I am so sorry to hear this news about Larry. I had the pleasure of working with him in CDC's National Immunization Program more than 30 years ago; I had adopted a daughter from China at the time, and I had a chance to talk to Larry about the process a lot; he and his wife might even have used the same adoption agency I did in Minnesota. I am happy that Victoria had him for a father and that she brought so much joy to his life. May his memory always be a blessing.
