Lawrence's obituary
Lawrence J. Dedeo Jr. passed away on October 3, 2024 after a difficult battle with lung cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by beloved friends and family.
Larry was born in Beverly, MA on December 26, 1964 to Lawrence J. Dedeo Sr. and Pamela Dedeo. He graduated from Beverly High School in 1983, before joining the United States Air Force. While stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life, Anja Dedeo (née Schulte), who he married on June 6, 1986. Together, they had two daughters, Corynne and Danielle, to whom he was the ultimate girl-dad.
After leaving the military, Larry worked as a printer for several years before going back to school to retrain for a career in maintenance. As maintenance director in nursing homes, Larry made it his personal mission to bring joy and comfort to the residents in any way he could, including dressing up as Santa and the Easter Bunny, cooking, and even organizing a parade during the pandemic.
Larry is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anja, his two daughters, Corynne and Danielle Dedeo, his son-in-law, Brian Behnke, and the light of his life, his granddaughter, Adeline Dedeo-Behnke. He is also survived by his parents, Larry Sr. and Pam Dedeo, his sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and Michael Pallazola, and his brother and sister-in-law Jeffery and Edna Dedeo, as well as his niece and nephews.
Larry cultivated a deep network of friends in all aspects of his life. He was an incredible husband, father, grampy, and friend, who never missed the opportunity to celebrate an accomplishment or a special occasion. He loved playing hockey on Sunday mornings and doing projects on his (or anyone else’s) house. As an esteemed scholar of YouTube University, he learned how to fix everything and shared his expertise with anyone in need. Larry’s passion in life was taking care of his people, in big and small ways. He helped others for the joy of helping, without any expectations for recognition or anything in return.
Details for Larry’s celebration of life will be forthcoming. We would like to thank all of our family and friends who have rallied around Larry and his family over the last several months. Your help has been a testament to the impact Larry has had on his community. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where Larry received exceptional care.
