Lawrence's obituary
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Lawrence Baker, who departed this life on February 22, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 76. Born on August 14, 1949, in the United States to Louis and Adelia Baker, Lawrence entered the world as a twin and began a life that would touch many hearts.
Lawrence graduated from John Marshall High School in 1968. During his time there, he distinguished himself by earning a coveted spot in the Illinois Bell Telephone Internship Program. Out of more than 300 applicants, Lawrence ranked among the top 25 candidates selected for this prestigious opportunity, placing an impressive 10th overall.
Music was one of Lawrence’s greatest passions. As a DJ, he shared his love of music with others and found joy in bringing people together through sound and rhythm. His talent for creating connections through music left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of experiencing his work.
In 1968, Lawrence married Betty (Green) Baker. From their union came their daughter, Lisa Danielle (Baker) Sullivan, born on January 19, 1974. Later in life, Lawrence married Evelyn Baker and continued building a life surrounded by family.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Evelyn Baker; his children Andre Lomax (Keisha), Lisa Danielle (Baker) Sullivan (John), Tracey Baker; and Larry Smith (Melissa); and his cherished grandsons Brevon and John, gradaughter, and great-granddaughters. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will remember him with love and gratitude for the joy he brought into their lives.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lawrence’s life and honor his memory. May his legacy live on through the music he loved so dearly and the family who will carry forward his spirit.
