Lavernne Jeane Thompson

February 12, 1923 – October 26, 2023

In the early morning of October 26th, in the comfort of her home, Lavernne Thompson passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 100 years old.

Lavernne was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1923. She met her husband, Howard in White Fox in 1940, and they were married in 1942. In 1943, they relocated to northern California to raise their family, where Lavernne worked for over 35 years as a bookkeeper for an oral surgeon, eventually moving to Rio Vista upon retirement. A resident of Rio Vista for the past 20 years, Lavernne was well-loved in her small town. Lavernne always made time for everyone. Without fail, she provided love and support for her family, church group, Trilogy community, TOPS group, and all of her card-playing friends.

Lavernne was predeceased by her husband of 42 years William Howard Thompson, by her daughter Barbara Chapman, by one grandchild Marsha Mintun, and great-great grandson Ridge Wesley Ellis. She is survived by one daughter, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family invites you to join them for a memorial service on Saturday November 4th, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Windborn Church, 300 Main St. Rio Vista, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Windborn Church or to Our Daily Bread Ministries, PO Box 2222 Grand Rapids, MI 49501-2222.
