To the family of Mrs. Lau,

I extend my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Mrs. Lau was a wonderful person, and I had the great honor of knowing her through her dedication to St. Michael Church. I was fortunate to be taught by her in CCD and to share conversations with her every Sunday at Mass. Her kindness and generosity will always be remembered.

To the family of my dearest Mrs. Lovely Laverne Lau, she encompassed all things beautiful. I will always remember the kindness and loving support she showered on me and my family when I kept arriving with my Lil precious packages: 1, 2 & 3: Marco, Chelsea and Zi when I taught at Paget Primary School.

She was the First Lady: my principal, my mentor and friend.

She was the one who encouraged me to be  a kindergarten teacher! I can recall failing the first day, and having to send a child home with no shoes, as one kid with the same shoes and smaller feet, went home with wearing the bigger shoe.

But she believed in me, and I’ve enjoyed such an awesome journey as a teacher since then, and the chance she took on me as reaped great dividends in my life and hopefully, the lives of others.  I been inspired to cultivate a  love for pouring into others the way she poured into me.

This beautiful gem will be truly missed. But she her life was well lived as she faithfully made a difference in the life of others.

We now hold on to that blessed hope.

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”

Till we meet again, may we all cherish the memories of Lady Laverne.

My heartfelt condolences go out to her family especially Jodi, Jill and Ronnie siblings and grands.

Thank you for sharing your mom with us.

Xoxo

I had the pleasure of connecting with Laverne as a teacher colleague and as a parent when my son (now 27 years old) attended her pre-school.  Laverne was a no-nonsense teacher and the children knew she loved them without doubt. She was firm, yet fair.

I recall many conversations I had with Laverne about all kinds of matters pertaining to education.  She always seemed so energetic...someone who would be around to share her love and energy forever. I was shocked to hear of her passing. The world had lost a knowledgeable gem!

My condolences to the entire family.

To Mr. Lau and family, you have my sincere condolences on the passing of such a wonderful person who has impacted so many lives.

I remember Mrs. Lau as my first schoolteacher, at Heron Bay Primary School. She gave me more than lessons; she gave me a part of her heart. Then my daughter had her as a teacher, at Southampton Pre-School. Then we had the privilege of her meeting my daughter's son. Thank you for inspiring three generations. You will be profoundly missed.

Dear Ronnie, Jill, Jodi and the entire Family,

I am deeply saddened at the passing of LaVerne. My sincere Condolences. Through faith, may you find the strength to keep you through this difficult period. I first met LaVerne in June of 1972 when she volunteered to help decorate the church in St Georges for my wedding. Didn’t know her from Adam. This is the kind of person she was, caring and giving. This was further cemented when some years later we both did further studies with Queens University. LaVerne would freely share her notes and assist with any issues, with anyone, even when you didn’t ask. I guess she simply had a knack for knowing when others needed help. This led to a friendship that lasted fifty years. Her pleasant, loving, caring presence and service will be sadly missed by all, family, friends, the church, the schools and Bermuda at large. However, I have no doubt that the memory of her and the glow of her caring spirit will remain with us forever. May she ride on angels’ wings to Eternal Peace.

Sincerely,

Kensley McDowall

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I’ve been reflecting on my fond memories growing up and hanging out with your family. Aunt LaVern was such a kind and sweet soul. I’ll always cherish the times spent at your house—hanging by the pool, catching up with the "girls", and having those lively, laughter-filled conversations when she would sit and listen to our many stories.

Aunt LaVern’s positive and friendly comments made everyone feel welcome and loved. I will truly miss her, but I will hold her memories close to my heart.

I know how much she meant to you all, and my heart is with you.

Sincere condolences

I am sorry for the loss of our dear friend LaVerne.  I have so many fond memories of her...she was a wonderful Lector at St. Michael's Parish and a 'pillar' of the community...I remember our  Wednesday night meetings of the Catholic Charismatic Group...and her passion for Stewardship...and the summers with the children of the Vacation Bible School...most of all the 'open door' to her kitchen...She will be greatly missed.
Greetings to you Jodi and extended family.  Please accept our sincerest condolences on the loss of your dear mother whom you deeply cherish.  Please hold on to the memories and remember she will be embedded deeply in your hearts always❤️❤️💐💐 Gary & Shernette Wolffe
My heart goes out to her family and closest friends, my memories of her as my primary school teacher are the best because she encouraged and gave me the love of reading, she always said that reading can take you outside of yourself and makes your imagination soar, and I do just that....I read everything. I thank God for her wisdom that she shared with me. She was a fantastic teacher and I know she is missed 💙

Good day the Ming , Lou family.

I got to meet Lavern, when I became friends with her sister Cheryl , we attended the same school. Some weekends I would Go and spend the weekends at the Ming’s. ……What a loving and beautiful family.  Lavern was always jovial, smiling, and always had a beautiful demeanor about herself.

When you saw her the radiance , that was round about her made you feel so peaceful.

Someone once said I would rather see a sermon then hear one. Lavern was that person, that always showed her Christian  walk……with that accommodating smile.

When she walked into a room the room lit up.

For I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he  is able  to keep that which I have committed unto him against  that day.

Blessings

Praise God for a life well spent. !!

Much love and prayers.

Words alone cannot express fully my deepest condolences to the family of Laverne.  She was a woman of deep faith and devotion to Our Lord.  She always had a smile for everyone who may have been feeling sad and alone.  May she rest in peace.
I first met Mrs. Lau as a parent at Paget Primary School during her time as principal. Just as she was a smiley face, she used to tell me she had a smiley face in every classroom! I can honestly say I never saw her with a frown. My delight when I found I was related through the Ming family to this lovely vibrant soul! She loved her students and advocated for them fervently! In later years whenever we had a chance meeting she always asked about my children, always taking delight in their accomplishments, adding them to her prayer list if there was a challenge they needed help to overcome. I will miss our chance meetings as I always left them feeling enthused, encouraged and loved!  My condolences to the family, I pray the spirit of Laverne lives on through you and you are comforted by the wonderful memories you have, may they bring you joy and peace knowing that hers was a life well lived .... always with a smile!

I have just learned of Laverne's passing. Sympathy and condolences to Ronnie and all the family.

Laverne was an extraordinary woman who exemplified all that it means to be a Christian. Her never ending unconditional love, the faith, kindness, humility, joy and caring she lived every day, was profound. She is undoubtedly resting in peace and will continue to live  on in all the people whose lives she touched.

A great and sad loss. We can only honour her by following her example and strive to be true and practicing followers of the Lord.. Again, deep sympathy to the family and the Lord be with all.

Thank you LaVerne. You are irreplaceable. Your work was done and the Lord took you home.

We Gerald and Tiny Bean send our sincere condolences.

Laverne and I taught together at St David’s School throughout the 1970s. During that time we established a strong friendship as we brought up our young families. In 1980 I left Bermuda to return to Scotland. Our friendship didn’t end there but grew over the years with regular visits between Bermuda and Scotland. With the advent of Skype and later WhatsApp we spoke at least three times a week over the years, including during the pandemic. In 2019 we had the pleasure of watching our grandchildren share a happy few days together in Scotland and we brought in the New Year in 2020 in Singapore together along with other members of LaVerne’s family. It is with deep sadness that all the Copelands send our love and condolences to Ronnie, Jill, Jodi and the rest the family. Rest in peace dearest friend.

Our condolences to Laverne's family.

She has been a friend for over 40 years and colleague.

We will remember how bright and smiling Laverne was making your day just that much brighter.

She will be missed by family and friends, but we are all the better that we had a chance to know and spend time with her.

My deepest condolences to Lisa, Darlene, Cheryl, Fred and family. There are no words that can soothe the pain in your hearts but God can. I pray for his comforting arms to embrace you at this unimmagibable time of loss. Laverne was a gentle giantess who touched many lives and helped to  shape the lives of many children and adults. May her rest be peaceful and her celebration reflect the sanctity of her life. The picture you selected was a perfect reflection of her being.  Love Gaynell and family
