LaVerne's obituary
Laverne is survived by her five children and their spouses, John (Cheryl), Paul (Diane), Paulette Kennedy, Jeanette (Patrick) Ibarra, Stephanie (Larry) Wadsworth; 6 grandchildren, Christy (John) Krawisz, John (Dorine), Jennifer Kennedy, Jason (Jen), Marlo (Clint) Hendricks, Brian (Beth) Wadsworth; and 12 great-grandchildren who loved Grandma Squared immensely, and many nieces and nephews. Laverne is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Zytniowski, five brothers and six sisters, and grandson Eric Wadsworth. LaVerne would have celebrated her 93rd birthday on April 23, 2021.
All who were blessed to be touched by the life of LaVerne have shared tales of her unconditional love and kindness to all: friends, family, caretakers and strangers. Comments like: “she is the sweetest person I know, she is just so cute’ were always said about her. She always had a “Thank you” for the smallest thing you did for her. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to LaVerne. Spending time with family, trips to Disney, road trips anyone would take her on, a piece of candy or rainbow cones all brought her great joy. She made the best banana cake, mock apple slices, cracked glass Jell-O cake, breaded pork tenderloin, and dumpling patties that we luckily have the recipes for.
Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial / Celebration of Life service celebrating LaVerne’s life on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the First Church of God located at 4600 W. 111th Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois. A prayer service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
Due to restrictions of the current pandemic, the family asks that everyone wear a face mask while in attendance. There will be light refreshments served.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking people to spread kindness on LaVerne’s behalf. We believe that an act of kindness can greatly change someone’s world. Please reach out to someone who may be lonely, a little thank you can brighten someone’s day, forgive someone who may be misunderstood, help someone in need or donate to a charity that you believe can make a difference. If you wish to donate on Laverne’s behalf we suggest one of three agencies that were very helpful to LaVerne and our family: PATHLIGHTS in Palos Heights, IL [f/k/a PLOWS], Advocate Charitable Foundation in Downers Grove, IL [Hospice] or Alzheimer’s Association in Chicago, Illinois.
