LaVern Martin Stettnisch, 83, of Enid, Oklahoma departed his earthly life and enter his eternal life in Heaven on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Greenbrier Village in Enid after suffering aggressive dementia.

LaVern entered this life on January 31, 1941, in Enid, Oklahoma, born to the late Lawrence and late Edna (Meisner) Stettnisch. He was raised and attended school in Enid, Oklahoma. While attending Enid High School, he became involved in the DECA work program which led to his lifetime career in office machines working for Enid Typewriter. Being an entrepreneur, he later opened his own businesses, Enid Business Machines and Enid Copy Systems. After retiring from the business machine field, he went to work for the YWCA where he worked as the Maintenance Manager until he became disabled from an on-the-job injury.

LaVern married Charlotte Jane Oberst of Okeene, Oklahoma, the love of his life on February 17, 1966. They spend the earlier years of their marriage traveling and starting their business before starting a family. They had two daughters. LaVern was an active supporter of the activities his daughters were involved in by being a band booster, TSA booster, and sports booters.

LaVern loved working on anything mechanical, woodworking, carving, archery, fishing, and making pens. He was a founding member of the Enid Archery Club, was a charter member of the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus-Council 1044, was a member of Ambucs, and the Enid Carving Club.

His grandsons were the joy of his life. He loved using his woodworking skills making them toys, he enjoyed taking them on trips to get a snack and to buy just one toy, and most of all teaching them his woodsman ship skills.

Family and friends will celebrate LaVern’s life on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Enid with the Rosary beginning at 11:00 am and a memorial mass to follow immediately.

LaVern was proceeded in death by his parents, Lawerance and Edna (Meisner) Stettnisch, and both brothers Ruben Stettnisch and James “Jimmy” Stettnisch.

LaVern is survived by his wife, Charlotte Stettnisch of Enid, Oklahoma; two daughters, Michelle Kazlaskas and husband, Josh Kazlaskas of Enid, Oklahoma and Jennifer DeHaas and husband, Justin DeHaas of Meno, Oklahoma; 3 grandsons, Stetson DeHaas of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Garrett DeHaas and Carter DeHaas, both of Meno, Oklahoma; one great-granddaughter, Navy DeHaas of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Greenbrier Village, who have become family to the Stettnisch family in LaVern’s closing chapter of his life. LaVern was grateful for them and loved them all.
