Lavelle's obituary

Lavelle Foote, 86, of Sachse, Texas, passed away on January 04, 2023.

Lavelle was born on May 13, 1936 to Tom and Lena Foster in Madisonville, Texas. After graduating from Madisonville High School in 1953, she went on to study History and English and to earn both elementary and high school teaching certifications at Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1957.    After graduation, she taught school - mainly high school English - for 34 of the next 45 years. Most of those years were spent teaching in Cleveland and Splendora school districts in southeast Texas.

The years not spent teaching school were filled with teaching, raising and loving her own children, because while she loved teaching and interacting with students, her priority and primary focus was her family. In 1960, she met Duane Foote, and they wed in 1962 in Mesa, Arizona, going on to have three children, Jeffrey, Lea Anna, and Andrew. As grandchildren and great grandchildren arrived, she adored each of them and relished time she got to spend with them.

Other important elements in her life included deep commitments to her faith and to her life-long interest and outright expertise in family history (genealogical) research. Her church service ranged from frequently being asked to play the piano and teach classes, to serving as Relief Society President and shepherding a host of young men through Cub Scout and Boy Scout ranks. She also served for 20 years as a part-time worker in the Houston and San Antonio LDS temples. Her family history expertise helped to find and connect countless family trees containing tens of thousands of ancestors and answers for herself and others. Lavelle loved to serve, reached out to the forgotten or ignored, and genuinely went about doing good in all her days. Put simply, she did her best to follow her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was predeceased by Thomas Emerson Foster (father), Lena Perry Foster (mother), Delbert Emerson Foster (brother), Carlyle Grant Foster (brother), Charles Preston Foster (brother), Janell Foster Gallion (sister), and Donald Wayne Gallion (brother-in-law).

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Duane Foote, Jeffrey Duane Foote (son), Lea Anna Andersen (daughter), and Andrew Emerson Foote (son), Jodi Foote (daughter-in-law), Trase Foote (daughter-in-law), Arnold Foster (brother), Nena Foster (sister-in-law), twelve grandchildren (Jared [Julianna], Brian [Janet], Kelli [Rob], Elena, Lindsey, Kacie, Randa, Allan [Emma], Jackson, Darin, Aimee, Hayden), and nine great grandchildren (Thomas, Blake, Jesse, Judith, Grant, Duane Archie, Heidi, Matthew, Cooper).
