Lauryn's obituary
Lauryn Nicole (Houser) Cooney, 40, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at her home in Boynton Beach, Florida. She passed surrounded by the love of her family, and entered into the inheritance promised to her through Jesus Christ.
Lauryn was born on October 4 in Jacksonville, North Carolina, to Lieutenant Colonel Bruce Houser, USMC (Ret.), and Denise Houser. As part of a military family, she spent her childhood moving across the country and around the world, learning early the values of faith, resilience, and service.
She graduated from Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and later attended Messiah College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 2008. That same year, she married the love of her life, Andrew Cooney. Lauryn worked as a bank auditor throughout her professional career and earned her Certified Internal Auditor. While working full time, she also pursued graduate studies and received her MBA from Liberty University.
In 2015, Lauryn welcomed her first child, Eloise, and soon after felt God calling her to devote herself fully to raising her family. She joyfully embraced the role of stay-at-home mother and was later blessed with two more children, Andrew Jr. in 2017 and Margaret in 2019. Lauryn considered motherhood her greatest ministry and took deep pride in nurturing her children in faith and love.
In 2023, Lauryn was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. Through every trial, she clung to her faith in God’s goodness and sovereignty. Her journey included participation in an experimental clinical trial at the National Institutes of Health, where she endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, and long hospital stays. Even in suffering, Lauryn trusted in the Lord’s plan and prayed that her experience would be used for His glory and for the healing of others. Following her passing, Lauryn donated her body to science, hoping that God would use even her death to further medical understanding and bring hope to future patients.
Lauryn’s life was marked by quiet strength, steadfast faith, and deep love for her family. She leaves behind a testimony of perseverance and trust in Christ that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She is survived by her parents, Bruce and Denise Houser; her sister and brother-in-law, Madelyn and Jake; her devoted husband, Andrew; and her cherished children, Eloise, Andrew Jr., and Margaret.
A memorial service celebrating Lauryn’s life and her victory in Christ will be held on February 28, 2026, at Connect Church in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. Please RSVP via the Facebook event or with the family before planning to attend.
