Laurie's obituary

Laurie Elizabeth Sellitto (Benson) Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laurie Elizabeth (Benson) Sellitto, who left us peacefully surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Formerly of Manchester, Connecticut, Laurie’s journey came to a serene close in the evening of March 17th 2024 following her admittance into Hospice care in Sarasota, Florida.

Born in Manchester, Connecticut, on April 21, 1951, Laurie was the cherished daughter of Doreen and James Benson, sibling to James Gordon Benson and Bonnie Benson, who predeceased her. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her brother, Gary Benson, and his wife, Melinda Benson, of Westerly, Rhode Island.

A proud graduate of Manchester High School in 1969, Laurie went on to marry her lifelong partner, Gary Sellitto, of East Hartford in 1973. Their enduring love story spanned over five decades, marked by shared joys and unwavering companionship.

Laurie’s legacy is carried on through her devoted children: daughter Jennifer (Sellitto) D’Agostino of Bradenton, and son Todd Alan Sellitto, along with his wife, Taylor Sellitto, of Palmetto, Florida. She was a beloved grandmother (Mema) to Logan, Garren, and Morgan D’Agostino; and Johnathan (Muir), Ryane, and Jaxon Sellitto.

Laurie will be deeply missed by her extended family and friends, all of whom she loved dearly. Her life showed her strength and kindness, and she created strong family ties that will be remembered with love. As we say fair well, we remember and celebrate her loving spirit and the joy she brought to our lives.
