It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Laurie Kearns after a courageous battle with cancer. Laurie was born on April 6, 1976, and passed away on March 29, 2024 in the home of her sister surrounded by loved ones. A vibrant spirit in every aspect, Laurie was known for her warm, intelligent, funny, and caring personality. She was a warrior against cancer, teaching everyone around her to fight their hardest and never give up, a lesson that will always resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. She is truly loved by her family and friends.
Throughout her career, Laurie invested her time and dedication in working with abused and abandoned children and the elderly population. Her kindness, compassion, and fierce advocacy for those less fortunate were some of her greatest accomplishments. She had a profound influence on both those she helped directly and the wider community, leaving a lasting impact reflected in the lives she touched and the hope she instilled.
Laurie was a beloved member of Delta Zeta, who are heartbroken to say goodbye to their sister too soon.
Laurie's legacy of kindness and caring for others will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She has left an indelible mark on this world, and she will forever live on through her deeds and the love she spread.
Laurie was proceeded in death by her mother, Peggy Chandler Kearns. She is survived by her father, Korwyn Kearns; sister, Mary McFarland; brother-in-law, Ron McFarland; and brother, Michael Kearns. Her favorite role was being a doting aunt to her nephew, Derek McFarland. Countless family members and friends mourn the loss of this remarkable woman. She had several close friends, including Cari, Teka and Michael, who will honor her memory in their hearts. Laurie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of sharing their lives with her.
On April 6, 2024, an open house to celebrate Laurie's life will be held from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Mason Community Center, 6050 Mason-Montgomery Rd, Mason, Ohio 45040. It will be an occasion to honor this extraordinary woman and remember her vibrant life, her compassionate spirit, and her invaluable contributions to her community. As we gather to say our final goodbyes, let us remember Laurie not with sorrow, but with gratitude for having been a part of her life and for the joy and compassion she brought into ours.
