Wendell, or as his close family calls him, Mo, was my oldest uncle and in many ways was my grandfather as I never got to meet my moms parents. He was a true family man and follower of God. His memory is not made in riches, achievements, or awards. His reward is in Heaven and he ran a good race for his family and others.
As brothers-in-law, Wendell and I shared a strong faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We also shared a love of music --- he enjoyed playing his harmonica and sang with a pretty good tenor voice. We also shared a respect for veterans of the Armed Services who served in combat like his brother, Jack, a Marine who was involved in some of the fiercest fighting in the Pacific during World War II. Wendell admired the Eisenhower jacket I wore as a combat infantryman in France and Germany and was delightd when I gave it to him after it became too small for me. He was an avid patriot and loyal friend.
Julie , I’m thankful for the opportunity to have met both your Dad and Mom . I remember sitting at your kitchen table early in the mornings having my coffee and looking through the newspaper with your Dad he was so knowledgeable, interesting and caring . Much love to you and all your family. Carolyn Cotter
Your dad got a "Well done, good and faithful servant" and a welcoming hug from Jesus himself on the 23rd of May. Wendell didn't die on that day, he just changed his address! Life will be different for you Julie, Jennifer, and Wendell, but I know you are confident that you will be reunited with your mom and dad some day. Love you all very much! Johanna ( and Steve)
My profound condolences to Julie, Jennifer and Wendell and all the family. Wendell Sr. and Pat were pillars to me and my husband in Miami where we started a young family just a couple of doors down the street. We learned to be better parents watching the beautiful parenting skills of Wendell and Pat. We loved when their horses visited our yard! I shall always carry very fond memories of those years.
