The loss is great but the memories are greater. I consider myself fortunate having had the opportunity to develop a friendship with Laurie over the past decade. Her compassion, quick-wit, story telling, and most of all smile will truly be missed. Hats off to you Laurie for a life well lived 😎. RIP ❀️.
Lauri was a true lifelong friend, someone who understood the trials and challenges of our youth, someone to share one’s feelings with, and someone who welcomed her friends into her home and allowed them to become a part of her extended family. There are many memories of those years, and they have been expressed in so many ways with reminiscences, laughter, compassion and understanding. While there are many friendships from our youth that faded over time, Lauri was always someone that made sure that our relationship remained close, and even though we may not have spoken or corresponded as often as we may have wanted, when the time came to reconnect, the time apart melted away.

One of our favorite songs from those days was James Taylor’s β€œYou’ve Got a Friend”, and that was what we meant to each other. A friend whose voice is still inside my head, and someone I will miss terribly in the years to come. I am saddened to think I will not hear her voice again, but I so deeply value the good times, the laughs, the caring, and the strong personal relationship that we had which sometimes only comes from friends of our youth.
I'm going down to Swap Meet Justice tomorrow in Oxnard around 11.
Should be good weather for that. Lor would go.

I will always remember Lauri for her warmth and openness. She had a great sense of humor and love of life. She taught me to think beyond my usual blinders and learn from others. I think of her often and am eternally grateful that I shared some incredible moments and experiences with her. Love to you, Lauri, and thank you for inspiring me to be a better person.
XO

My Condolences to all ofΒ Lauri's family and friends.Β  I met Lauri at Dos Pueblos High School .Every time when Lauri came to B-6 classΒ  our disable students ,Β  where they had the pep club storage.., LauriΒ  always came to me and said Hi, even in the halls she said hi to me. When I first started Classmates I looked her up and send herΒ  a message, to said hi to her, but never had a reply back. I remember her as a wonderful person, and now IΒ  always will. May Lauri be with God and may God be with Lauri. Rest In Peace my friend. xxooΒ
Lauri was a wise and wonderful human being. She will stay with me always. πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Laurie Β was a principled catalyst for community change. Β She was a major asset to the community. Β  In a small town, sometimes people forget to make room for strangers. But Laurie was eager to link up to strangers and turn them into friends, based on a mutual interest Β in helping others. She created original projects which let me know about other community Β issues Β I might have missed without her. Her focus on Westside where she lived led me to reflect that it had once been the hub of Ventura and for my family as well. Β She protected it's potential and saw its beauty.

Although she is gone, I won't drive on Ventura avenue without seeing changes and thinking of her. She had a big vision for each person and project Β she launched regardless of Β limitations. The Avenue found funding and real estateΒ investors, art galleries and ethnic restaurants, community gatherings and educational opportunitiesΒ Β during her tenure. Β I knew she was a Star who took others with her on her trajectory to make change. Β I'm so sorry she is gone, but her legacy lives on for those of us who knew how outstanding she was. Β Maybe we should name a street on the Avenue Β calling it Β "Laurie", Β after her. She would love that. and she deserves it. Β Gone too soon.

All our kids loved Aunt Lauri! This was the last summer we spent in Ventura all together as a family with her. Dodgers, beach time and hanging out in garden filled the days β˜€οΈβ™₯️
