Laurent's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laurent Giroux, a beloved figure in the world of theater, film, and television. Born on March 9, 1949, Laurent passed away on November 29, 2025.
Laurent was widely appreciated for his warm, funny, elegant and engaging personality. He had a unique blend of being private yet making those around him feel seen and important. His distinctive sharp sense of humor, coupled with a thoughtful and intentional approach to relationships, left an indelible impression on everyone he met.
Over the course of his illustrious career, Laurent has imparted valuable life lessons. He taught his peers and juniors the significance of discipline, persistence and the profound respect for good art. His belief in sheer dedication, integrity, and loyalty towards one's craft and not taking shortcuts to success has been inspiring to many.
Laurent's accomplishments speak volumes about his dedication and passion for performing arts. His distinguished career included performances on Broadway, national tours, and major regional stages under legendary directors, including Bob Fosse. His participation in acclaimed productions elevated their stature and left a mark on the audience.
Laurent's legacy is not only his artistry and mentorship but also the "chosen family" he leaves behind. He will be remembered not just for his splendid performances but also for the lives he touched through his encouragement, friendship, and unwavering support.
Deep, long-term friendships meant the world to Laurent, and his friends were his family. Among his companions, a special bond was shared with his beloved dog, Stass, who was always by his side. The sudden loss of Laurent, due to aggressive pancreatic cancer, has been deeply unfair and saddening.
A Celebration of Life in memory of Laurent will be held on February 2, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Queensyard. In lieu of flowers, a fundraiser titled "Memorial Fundraiser" has been organized and funds can be donated at https://everloved.com/life-of….
