Background
Lauren has been battling this disease for 15 years. She was only 28 the day of her passing. She and her family have struggled financially her whole life. At times, it was a challenge to keep food on the table. Yet she always had a bright spirit and a hopeful heart. She was planning to go to school to become a nurse anesthetist. She had experienced the full spectrum of the light and dark sides of the medical field and longed to emulate the kind and gentle spirited nurse anesthetist who so sweetly sent her to sleep before one of her countless procedures. But she will never realize her dreams. She suffered so much, physically, mentally and emotionally. I cannot adequately describe the profoundness or depth. She was one of the strongest and most brave, young or old, that I have ever met. She once told me that she got out of bed every day and just pressed on. “what else can you do?” Not in a hopeless tone, but in a motivated way, “how could anyone ever want to choose any other option?” There was only one choice. To muscle through. Bring it! She was brazen. She was beautiful. Even bossy. :) Certainly she was unique. Inspiring. Her passing was unexpected. It has left her parents and those who loved her in shambles. And to add to the misery, there is no provision for her burial. If anyone could contribute, our family would be truly grateful.
