Laura McFadden - Timmons, "LT", 96, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Laura was a remarkable woman, known for her resilience, courage, and unwavering commitment to her family. As the matriarch of the Timmons family, she served as a constant source of inspiration, nurturing and cheering on her children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. Her indomitable spirit and unwavering support helped guide her family through the difficulties of life. Born on January 20, 1927, in New Zion, South Carolina, Laura met Christopher Timmons in Fernandina Florida and together they went on to have 11 children. She was a devoted mother who gave her all to her family,always putting their needs before her own. Her passing leaves an enormous void in the hearts of her loved ones that can never be filled.
In addition to her role as a loving mother, Laura was an accomplished cook who loved to share her passion for food with others. In honor of her memory, the family has established the Laura Timmons Culinary Fund, to support aspiring chefs in pursuing their dreams. Laura was predeceased by her beloved husband, Christopher Timmons, as well as her sisters, Rosa Lee Harrison and Lula Mae Sanchez, and her brothers, Robert Smith, Freddy Smith, Morris Smith Sr., and Ulysses Smith Sr. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Lorraine Timmons and Marjorie Timmons, and her sons, Gordon Page, Joseph Timmons, and Charles Timmons. She is survived by her brother, Ellison Smith, and her brother James Smith (Ernestine) and sister-in-law Myrtle Smith. She is also survived by her daughters, Cynthia Timmons Gray, Ann Timmons Armstrong (Steve) and her sons, Dalton Page (Angelica), James Timmons, Timothy Timmons (Sheryl), and Marvin Timmons. Laura leaves behind 25 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as close friends of the family.
A viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on March 17th at Friendship Baptist Church, located at 500 W 4th St, Lewes, DE 19958, followed by a Home Going Service at 1:00 p.m.
