Laura Jeanne Skrobarczyk

Laura Jeanne Skrobarczyk, 49, of Kingsville, TX, passed away peacefully at Harbor Hospice in Portland, TX, on January 27, 2025. She was born on November 23, 1975, in Kingsville, TX where she was raised with her family as the youngest of sixteen children.
Laura graduated from H.M. King High School in 1993 and pursued her passion for music, developing a remarkable talent for playing the piano and guitar, singing, and songwriting. She was a skilled and intuitive musician who graced the stage with performances for many years. Laura was blessed with a creative spirit that extended beyond her musical talents. In 2004, Laura was honored with the Editor's Choice Award for her outstanding achievement in poetry from the International Library of Poetry. Laura taught herself the intricate skills of piano tuning and restoration in her young adulthood, dedicating herself to perfecting her craft. Her passion and expertise led to the creation of her successful business, CZYK Piano Services, which she proudly ran for over 20 years. Laura provided service for countless people, churches, colleges, and many more, leaving a lasting legacy throughout South Texas. For the past sixteen years, she found immense joy and fulfillment in creating music alongside her husband, Jimmy Placker.
Above all, Laura was a very proud and devoted mother of her three children: Austin, Wyatt, and Lilly. She loved them with a depth that was immeasurable, always offering unwavering support, encouragement, and patience. Her children were her greatest treasure, and she took great pride in their lives and accomplishments. With boundless love and care, she nurtured them as they blossomed into the wonderful adults they are today.
Anyone who knew Laura was deeply touched by her radiant spirit. She had a generous heart and a smile so bright and beautiful it could light up any room. Her kindness and warmth left a permanent mark on all who were fortunate enough to meet her.
Laura had a deep appreciation for family traditions, especially her mother's recipes, which she loved to recreate. Known for her strength and independence, she had a remarkable ability to solve problems and accomplish anything she put her mind to. Whether it was tackling a new project or mastering a skill, Laura’s determination knew no bounds. She also had a deep affinity for nature and the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, camping and attending renaissance festivals—especially when shared with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Placker; her sons, Austin Ryan Skrobarczyk (Bonnie Winkler) and Wyatt Daniel Skrobarczyk (Denise Larraga); and her daughter, Lillian Rose Escobar (Jacob Garcia). She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lois Skrobarczyk; her brother-in-law, Joe Thompson; her brother, James Skrobarczyk (Lawanda); her sister, Joan Fisher (Bill); her sister-in-law, LaDonna Skrobarczyk; her sister, Catherine Herndon (James); her brothers, Louis Skrobarczyk Jr. (Dara), Stephen Skrobarczyk (Mary), Jerome Skrobarczyk (Joy), and George Skrobarczyk; her sister, Elizabeth King (Jeff); and her brother, Michael Skrobarczyk, as well as countless nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Laura was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Anita Skrobarczyk; her brother, Richard Skrobarczyk; her sister, Carol Thompson; and her brothers, Robert Skrobarczyk, Mark Skrobarczyk (Teresa), Joseph Skrobarczyk, and Fulton Skrobarczyk.
Laura’s memory will forever live in the hearts of all who knew her. She was kind, loving, passionate, talented, and strong-willed—a deeply creative soul whose presence left a permanent mark. Her legacy is one of unwavering love, boundless inspiration, and a life well lived.
A memorial Rosary will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church,1120 South 8th Street, Kingsville, TX 78363 immediately followed by a reception at St. Martin of Tours Parish Hall located at 504 E Ella Ave, Kingsville, TX 78363.
