Laura Jean Rasche of South Hutchinson Island, Florida, age 59, passed away on 9/22/22. Laura had the most beautiful dimples and a smile that lit up the room. She had a heart of gold and a kind soul. Laura loved animals as well as artistic beauty. Her love for artistry could be seen in every aspect of her life. Laura created large works of macramé and was an avid painter. A graduate of Sandwich high school, where she placed first in the Boston Fine Arts awards. Laura was respected in the art community from an early age. Laura spent her younger years on Cape Cod with her family where she developed her love for beaches. She then began her career in the late ’80s as a relocation engineer (long-haul truck driver). Racking up over three million miles, Laura laid the groundwork for future female truckers to follow. After meeting her husband Pat, they became owner-operators of their own trucking company. Continuing her love of art later in life, Laura participated in various art shows on the Treasure Coast of Florida. She leaves behind her mother, Marilyn Rasche Brotman of South Hutchinson Island FL & Sandwich MA, her loving sister Lynne Alden of Wolfeboro NH, twin nephews Randal, and Ryan Willette that were the sunshine in her life, her niece Olivia Alden, her uncle Atty. William Rasche of Madison WI, her former husband John Patrick Bastunas of Owensville MO, her Uncle Walter Tripp, her beloved Uncle, David Damon of Fort Pierce FL, and cherished Cousins Stephen, David, and Paula Besso of Sandwich MA & FL. Laura is preceded by her stepfather Sheldon Brotman MD. FACS, her father Edward William Rasche of Harwich MA, her Aunt Diana Besso Damon, paternal grandparents Col. H.H. Rasche and Dr, G. G. Rasche, both maternal grandparents Stephen and Marian Dunbar Tripp of Spring Hill Beach Sandwich MA & FL. A private service will be held on Cape Cod.
