Laura's obituary
Laura Ellen Cutri Leonard, 51, of Nottingham New Hampshire, passed away on 29 March 2022, having battled cancer to the very end; cancer did not beat Laura’s spirit or take her soul...only her earthly body. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing.
Laura was born on October 24, 1970, in Erie, PA to Edward and Cynthia (Richards) Cutri. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education – Secondary English in 1994, and worked as an English teacher, adult educator, and later in training development. Her passions extended well beyond her career as she was a lifelong writer and continuously sought out opportunities to volunteer her time to charitable community causes.
Laura loved nature and felt a strong connection to the natural world. She spent the last two years of her life among the forests of New Hampshire with her husband Michael and her best buddy, Angus (Goose) their Australian Shepherd. Often, she could be found simply exploring the forest floor – celebrating its ever-changing ecosystem, identifying the plethora of mushrooms found within its habitat , or meditating on her favorite granite boulder overlooking the gentle falls of the river running through the land that she simply saw herself as the caregiver for in those beautiful years. She was taken entirely too young but meant so much to all of us – she never stopped fighting or bringing joy into others’ lives. She viewed life as a story and cherished her third act.
Laura was preceded in death by her father, Edward, and her mother, Cynthia. She is survived by her husband Michael, her son Emerson, and her siblings, Anne Cameron of Erie, Pennsylvania, Randall Peter of Rockland, Maine, Christopher Edward of Cleveland, Ohio, Stephen Richards of Cleveland, Ohio.
The family asks that donations be made in memory of Laura, designated to the Seacoast Cancer Center, Wentworth Douglas Hospital Charitable Foundation, Dover New Hampshire, in the hopes that it may provide the loving care she received to someone in need from the team of doctors, nurses and medical staff that fought with her all the way.
