Laura's obituary
Laura Brough Harris, 66, of Bethany Beach, Delaware, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at Beebe Healthcare Hospital in Lewes, Delaware.
Born on October 26, 1959, Laura lived a life defined by deep faith, devotion to her family, and a gentle spirit that touched everyone who knew her. A recently retired realtor, she spent over 3 decades helping others find a place to call home, bringing the same warmth, patience, and care to her work that she carried into every part of her life.
Laura was deeply rooted in her faith and spoke about God with the same love and familiarity that she spoke about her family. She was a loyal, kind, and resilient woman with a contagious laugh and smile that could brighten any room. Those closest to her knew her as wise, patient, and full of grace—a sweet and gentle soul who always made others feel welcome and cared for.
She loved spending time with her family, cooking meals that brought everyone together, and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. A true beach lover, Laura cherished time spent by the ocean and in nature. Her dogs and cats were also beloved members of her family, whom she cared for with the same devotion she gave to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her adored daughter, Kathryn Harris; her parents, Al and Phyllis Cody; her brother, Matthew Brough; her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Rick McDonnell; and her sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Mark Courtney.
Laura is survived by her husband of 40 years, Larry Harris, and her beloved son, Cody Harris. She is also survived by her treasured siblings, Missy Brough Farrell, Stephanie Brough, and Al Cody, and their children: Nicole Wolf, Megan Martin, Scott McDonnell, Sarah Wayne, Rachel Moore, Allison McIntyre, Lindsey Farrell, Cathy Cody, Chris Cody and Laura's mother-in-law, Barbara Harris. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who were part of her cherished village.
Born with physical challenges in her heart, Laura transformed what could have been a weakness into one of her greatest strengths. Her heart seemed to hold extra room for others—offering kindness, faith, and compassion to everyone she met. Her family and loved ones will carry that legacy forward: choosing faith, keeping their hearts soft, and filling the world with light as Laura so naturally did.
Her life reflected the promise she held so closely in her heart:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16
Laura's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 11th | 2026 from 11a.m.-2p.m at Evans Park Community Building 32517 Dukes Dr., Millville, DE 19967.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Laura’s favorite charity, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, in her honor.
