Larry's obituary

Larry Mack, a beacon of love, humor, and kindness, was born on February 17, 1942, and passed away on September 17, 2024. His contagious laughter, warmth, and well-lived life will be celebrated and cherished by his surviving family and friends.

Larry is survived by his son, David Mack, his daughter, Catherine Robertson, his son-in-law, Max Robertson, and daughter-in-law, Anna Mack. His legacy lives on in his adoring grandchildren; Charlotte Mack, Colin Robertson, Owen Mack, Blake Robertson, and Lindsey Robertson. He shared a special bond with his beloved sister, Marilyn Taylor, who survives him. Larry was predeceased by his mother, Frances Ahern, his father, Harold Mack, and his brother, Harold "Hal" Mack.

Larry possessed a remarkable zest for life. His favorite foods were Mexican, often enjoyed with an ice-cold root beer. A fan of John Prine, The Kingston Trio, bluegrass, and folk music, he himself was a notable musician, playing with the California Trio and with the Others for over 30 years. Larry had a penchant for watching Real Time with Bill Maher and classic movies, especially The Thin Man series and anything on Turner Classic Movies.

As a sports enthusiast, Larry supported The Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Angels, and Norte Dame football and basketball. He loved playing basketball and tennis as his preferred ways to exercise. His favorite vacation spot was Upper Soda Springs near Mammoth Mountain, a place he visited to unwind and reconnect with nature.

Larry was a staunch believer in civil liberties, a cause he passionately advocated for. He was a man of many traits - silly, kind, sensitive, funny, caring, a great listener, and fun. Among his proud accomplishments were leading his own business and raising two great children. Larry's extraordinary sensitivity and devotion to his family were the foundation of his legacy of kindness and humor.

Life with Larry was a beautiful song filled with laughter, kindness, and love. His memory will persist in the hearts of those he left behind, influencing and inspiring them with his enduring spirit of joy and compassion.
