Background
My brother Larry passed away suddenly on August 7. May he rest in peace.
This donation request is specifically to pay for an inurnment at San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston, Texas. Their fee for this brief burial service and "opening and closing" of the mausoleum space, is $1180.
As many of you are aware, Larry could not take care of many aspects of his life, so it was up to my father to make all arrangements for Larry. My father chose a mausoleum at San Jacinto Memorial Park, and paid for the bronze name plate as well. Separately, he arranged for a prepaid funeral plan at a nearby funeral park. A few years before my father passed away in 2012, he told me, "I've made all the arrangements for your brother Larry". I am very thankful to my dad for making all these arrangements - it's smart to plan in advance, as this is a difficult time for many.
However, unfortunately, the funeral plan was not completely paid for. Unbeknown to me, monthly payments had stopped in 2009. So, the funeral home could only give partial credit for this funeral plan, for payments paid plus interest earned. The funds were sufficient for arranging a cremation, but did leave us short of funds for a full funeral and interment.
In lieu of flowers or other memorials, we appreciate your donation for helping us cover this expense.
UPDATE: we received a refund check today (September 2) from Larry's prepaid insurance plan, so we have been able to partially cover inurnment fee.
UPDATE 2: any extra funds received will be toward a food basket that will we gift to Larry's care home. They took of him diligently for 20+ years. All of their employees are angels on earth.
