Larry's obituary

Larry Benjamin Bowerman, a veteran of the United States Army, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and family member passed from this earthly life in Ardmore, OK on Thursday December 24, 2020 at the age of 76. He was born on April 14, 1944 in Olney, OK to Freddie and Jessie (Ennis) Bowerman. Larry married Nancy Vay Straw in Coalgate, OK on July 23, 1966, they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this year.

Larry Graduated high school in Olney, OK. He then went to Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, OK. Larry served his country proudly in the United States Army, after getting out of Army, he worked 41 years at Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester, OK. Larry loved spending time with his family (immediate and extended both) and his friends. He loved all kids (but especially his grandkids, nieces and nephews), he also enjoyed spending time with them and playing cards, board games, and watching movies. Larry loved the quiet solitude of fishing, watching old western movies, wrestling shows, OU football, country music (especially Reba McEntire, who he followed her whole career since she was about 12 years old competing in 4H competitions).

Mr. Bowerman is survived by his beloved Nancy Bowerman (wife) of Little Elm, TX, Lisa (Bowerman) Lindley (daughter) and Michael (son-in-law) of Lewisville, TX, James Bowerman (son) and Chandra (daughter-in-law) of Prosper, TX, Christopher Bowerman (grandson) of Little Elm, TX, Briana Bowerman (granddaughter) of Little Elm, TX, Trinity Bowerman (granddaughter) of Prosper, TX, Christian James (CJ) (great grandson) of Little Elm, TX, Orbin Bowerman (brother) and Linda (sister-in-law) of Tupelo, OK, Freddie Bowerman Jr (brother) and Tisha Lou (sister-in-law) of Vanoss, OK, Carolyn Bays (sister) of Coalgate, OK, Neoma Barnes (sister) of Bristow, OK, Betty Schornick (sister) and David (brother-in-law) of Blanchard, OK, Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great grand nieces, great grand nephews, cousins, and friends. Larry's absence will be felt by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Bowerman was proceeded in death by, Freddie Bowerman (Dad), Jessie (Ennis) Bowerman (Mom), Infant Brother Bowerman (brother), Robert Straw (brother-in-law), Vivian Straw (sister-in-law) and Tina (Bowerman) Stonecipher (niece) and her family.

A private family celebration of Larry's life will be held. His final resting place with be the Rosehill Cemetery in Wapanucka, Oklahoma.

His honorary pallbearers will be Roy (Junior) Bowerman (Uncle), Christopher Bowerman (Grandson), Mark Johnson (Nephew), Steve Bowerman (Nephew), Preston Bowerman (Nephew), David Schornick (Brother-in-law), Terry Calhoun (Nephew), Mike Linton (Nephew), Kelly Wren (Nephew), Bill Sinclair (Nephew), Bryce Burns (Great nephew) and Wade Powel (Great nephew).

The service will be available via live-stream link to family and will be recorded for anyone else who wishes to watch (please contact his daughter Lisa or son James for more information).

The family would like to extend a special THANK YOU to everyone that gave such great care to Larry over the years at the Ardmore Veteran's Center in Ardmore, OK .
