Larry's obituary
SP4 Larry Bicknell, 72, of Desert Hot Springs,CA, passed away on November 7, 2022 surrounded by friends and family. Larry was a proud decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam War, 1969-70 and spent another two years stationed in Ft. Lewis, WA.
Larry was born on January 10, 1951 in Hereford, TX to his parents Pete and LaVerne Bicknell. When he was just 18, Larry decided to join the Army. He would go on to serve in the Vietnam War.
After being honorably discharged in 1971, he worked at the Tacoma Smelter for several years before retiring due to health reasons caused by Agent Orange.
Also in 1971, Larry met Vickie in Tacoma, WA. Larry and Vickie went on to have three children, Arlene, Diane and Larry. They lived in several locations over the years, including, but not limited to Rio Linda, Arroyo Grande, Olancha and Wickenburg.
Larry met Judy and they later moved to Desert Hot Springs, CA where they managed Desert View Mobile Home Club for 6 years before he fully retired.
Larry always wanted to keep busy and introduced his family to new adventures in each city. One day they were part of the pit crew at the stock car races and later they were participating in rodeos and cattle drives. Hard work never scared him and he always took it on to help support his family. One thing that everyone that met him knew, was that he would happily help with whatever task they needed.
His proudest moments are those he shared with his grandchildren. He was a proud Papa to nine grandchildren.
Larry was predeceased by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his four sisters, his wife of 22 years, Judy, his three children, her two children and their families; Arlene (Jason), their children Christopher and Braden Spence; Diane (Dave), their children Isaac and Amber Buchan, Larry (Mandy), their children Tanner and Tad Brown; Morgan (Jennifer), their children Lorelei Odessa and Cozette Ripplinger; Happy Stugelmeyer
