Lane's obituary

Lane Martin from Dubach, La, a devoted father, veteran, and friend to many, passed away on February 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and quiet kindness.

He was the most caring and lovable man one could ever know—a presence that instilled a sense of safety and value in those around him. He lived his life with humility and grace, always prioritizing the well-being of others.

A proud veteran, Lane served in the United States Army during the Korean War. His service embodied the character he carried throughout his life: steadfast, courageous, and selfless. Although he rarely discussed it, his strength was evident in the way he lived and loved each day.

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly sports. Baseball and golf were his favorites, and he cherished the camaraderie, competition, and tranquility those games provided. Numerous cherished memories were created on ballfields and golf courses, moments that will now be held even more dear.

To his family, he was everything. His guidance, laughter, and unwavering love shaped the lives of those fortunate enough to call him father. Losing him has left an indescribable void, but his love will endure through the lessons he imparted and the memories he generously shared.

Lane is survived by Sharon Martin, his wife of 58 years; Randy Martin (Dawn), son; Angel Frichter (Mark), daughter; Misty Luginbill (Jeremy), daughter; Lannie Evan’s,  daughter; Dorothy Simmons, his sister; J.B. Martin (Sue), brother; and numerous grandchildren, including Mason (Jessica) & Taylor Hammons, Jared (Graycen J.), Sierra & Brayden Luginbill, Dominique Evan’s; Sophie Frichter; great-grandchildren Benson, Waylon & Payson Hammons; and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by Jeffery Martin, his son; Fay Rambin, his sister; and Ethel Stone, his sister.

Lane will be deeply missed and forever remembered as the great person he truly was.
