I just learned of Lance’s passing and want to share my deep respect for him. Lance was an incredible support and resource for students, parents, and staff in Canon City Schools. I always knew I could depend on Lance for his thoughtfulness and depth, his ability to listen, and his sincere openness to diverse perspectives. Lance was so much more than what the textbook said, he had the heart and caring that resulted in true collaboration. Each of us, in our careers and in life bump into others that inspire our respect and appreciation. Lance was certainly that for me and I know so many others, too.
We were always so grateful to have Lance (and Rosemary) in our lives especially when our oldest son was a little kiddo on the soccer circuit. Often times, I couldn't make his practices or games, and Lance would be sure that my wife and son were given a ride and well-taken care of.
Between Rosemary's polite grace, and Lance's compassionate encouragement; those rides often became the highlight of the day.
Even in times of a deep discussion with Lance, there was never contention but a simple reflection of each other's views and values, and the life journey that brought each of us to that day.
Chris, Ryan, and Laura; thank you for sharing your folks with us. Our community AND our family is better because of their influence.
