LaDena's obituary

LaDena Ann Self-Goff, 59, of Halstead, KS, passed away December 22, 2024 at KU Med Center in Kansas City, KS. She was born on December 1, 1965 in Newton, KS, the daughter of Alvin R. Jr. and Catherine (Wherrell) Schmidt.

A Memorial and Celebration Service will be on January 4 at 2pm at the  Christ Tabernacle Pentecostal Church, 210 East Fourth, Newton, Kansas.  A reception with family and light refreshments will follow.

LaDena loved Jesus and was a member of Christ Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Newton. She worked as a Certified Nurse Aid at various nursing homes in her career and also cared for the many children in her family.

LaDena enjoyed traveling, baking and doing cross stitch in her spare time. She loved decorating cakes and making holiday goodies for gatherings. Above all she loved her family. Caring for her nieces and nephews brought her the most joy.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Goff; siblings, Daniel (Carol) Schmidt of Haysville, Sonia (Brad) Buchta of Halstead, and Jerry (Marishawn) Schmidt of Hillsboro; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; Step-daughter, Sarah Bridger (son-John) of Halstead.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin R. Jr. and Catherine Schmidt; her sister and Brother in law, Sandra and David Mills; two nephews, Jason Schmidt and Brent Dickerson.
