I first met Kurt at karaoke, no I was not singing, he was and playing his harmonica! Such an unbelievable Talent especially for the Mound Legion, that was 13 1/2 years ago. Kurt never seized to make me laugh and I believe vice versa, he was grandpa like no other to four of my grandchildren. His patients with them was admirable, and they will miss him greatly. We lifted each other up and fed each other's soul and became I believe very best friends. I vow to celebrate his life rather than be sad, there's too much sadness in this world right now anyhow. I loved you dearly Kurt and until we meet again which I know we will, keep on singing Baby!
Dear Sarah, Emily and Laura, Memories of my brother Kurt are many... here are just a few... more to share with you as time goes on... As a young child, having imaginary friends... Pancho and Anna Lisy... Graduating from Chaska High School at the top of his class... Kurt and Jill having sleepovers with all the nieces and nephews... Vern and I enjoyed seeing Kurt perform with Timbre Junction at Dulono's Pizza, Bluegrass Music Festivals and Minnesota State Fair Bandstands... A few years ago, meeting up with Kurt in Chaska, with me and our 5 other sisters... going down memory lane and being silly together... Kurt will be missed but we will meet again and until then... "take a little time for howlin' at the moon" :)
We looked to Kurt when it was time to buy our lovely piano. He was a wealth of info and stories about the topic. We have enjoyed thinking of him over the years, as we continue to enjoy our piano.
Growing up I remember hauling hay with Kurt and the poor guy had hay fever so bad he was miserable but he kept on going! He was not a quitter. We picked on each as brother and sister do and l believe he alway won! As we got older we grew closer- he was in Brian and my wedding. We would go to Duluno’s Pizza to watch what he enjoyed the most playing his guitar, banjo and singing Bluegrass. He was a excellent entertainer. My most dearest memory is we would call each other on our birthdays and we would never pick up the phone so we could leave a wish on voicemail - Kurt would ALWAYS sing Happy Birthday to me in his Elvis voice. We would call each other right after the first call and chatted for bit. I have the last birthday voicemail him singing and I will always play it on my birthday. Kurt will always be in my heart ❤️ Rest In Peace Brother ✝️ Love Jan
I will always remember Kurt's silly humor and his ability to set a relaxed and fun tone in the room. People were drawn to him and he welcomed everyone. He will be missed.
At a recent Christmas celebration I had the pleasure of watching Kurt play with his grandson (my son) Xander. Xander was having a great time hiding inside low empty cupboards. He was shutting and opening the doors to surprise anyone in the area. Kurt was having so much fun interacting with Xander that day, even though it couldn't have been comfortable for him to spend so much time hunched over these cupboards. It was really wonderful to see him acting so childlike and bonding with his grandson.
