Kurt's obituary

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kurt John Kopack age 51, of Hebron, on August 29th. Kurt was a cherished son, a devoted brother, a loving father, and a loyal friend to many. His presence in our lives brought joy, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.

Kurt is survived by his son, Wyatt Kopack; his mother, Karen Kopack Crosswy (Wayne) of Valparaiso, Indiana; his twin brother, Kristopher Kopack (Deborah and Kolton) of Austin, Texas; and his sister, Kelly Kopack McCorkle (Drew, Chelsea, Alexa, and Lauren) of Mill Creek, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanton George Kopack.

Kurt’s journey through life was defined by his unwavering dedication to those he cherished, but above all, by his profound love for his son, Wyatt. Wyatt was the light of Kurt’s life, the bond they shared was unbreakable, and Kurt’s greatest joy was being Wyatt’s father. His love for Wyatt was limitless, a beacon that guided him through every moment of his life.

Kurt was a graduate of Purdue University. Kurt's extensive career in telecommunications was marked by dedication, skill, and a relentless drive to excel. His work in the industry was more than just a job; it was a testament to his commitment to providing for his family and making a meaningful impact in his field. Yet, despite his professional accomplishments, Kurt’s true passion lay in creating—crafting custom furniture that was as unique and enduring as he was. But for Kurt, the greatest joy in life was found in the time he spent with his beloved son, Wyatt. Wyatt was the heart of Kurt’s world—the best part of his life. Kurt was at his happiest when they were together, lovingly calling him “Pops.” Their bond was undeniable, two peas in a pod, and despite the separation from Wyatt’s mother, Kurt made every effort to be with his son, cherishing each and every moment they shared.

Kurt’s love extended deeply to his mother, Karen, who was his steadfast anchor. Her unwavering support and the love they shared was a guiding light throughout his life. The bond between Kurt and Karen was one of immense love and mutual respect, a relationship that shaped Kurt’s character and the man he became.

Known for his quick wit, sarcasm, and dry humor, Kurt brought laughter and lightness to those around him, even in the darkest times. His sense of humor was a gift he shared generously, leaving behind countless memories filled with smiles and laughter.

Kurt’s legacy is one of hard work, creativity, and deep, loving connections. He leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but also a life full of love, humor, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

There will be no service, however the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life sometime this fall. Details forthcoming.
