Background

We were fortunate that mom was under the care of the team at the Kensington-Sierra Madre where they practice Positive Approaches to Care (PAC), a very pro-active, progressive training in dementia care to which mom responded well.
Two thirds of Alzheimer cases are women. WAM at Cleveland Clinic is the home of the nation’s first and only Alzheimer’s Prevention Center designed just for women.

Frequently asked questions

Answered by a team member at Snow Approach Foundation

  • What is your mission?

The mission at Snow Approach Foundation, Inc. is to equip communities around the world with accurate information on dementia and brain change and practical skills to approach with a relationship-first focus.

  • How are donations used?

Mostly, donations are used to cover the cost of rent. All programs are run by volunteers, the board is all volunteers, and the training resources are donated by Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Care.

  • What can be done with a $100 donation?

With $100, an entire Brain Cafe can run. This means that around 40 people can join together in community to learn about brain health, volunteer, eat, talk about tough topics like dementia and caregiving, and simply find joy each week.

  • What progress has been made already thanks to your donors?

We have completely renovated a building in downtown Hillsborough, NC to invite people from all over the world to come see these principles in action. One of the best statements we get when people come is that they really don't know who has dementia and who doesn't. It just feels like how things should always be done.

  • What is the history of your organization?

SAF was created in 2022 by Teepa Snow and Amanda Snow Bulgarelli because of a total lack, across the world, of community-based dementia support. SAF exists to unlock doors and open conversations with accurate information and practical skills of the Positive Approach.
