Kris's obituary

Kristofor Cameron Whitton

4/17/1978 - 2/17/2025

Kristofor "Kris" Whitton, 46, passed away on February 17, 2025, in Houston, Texas, after a courageous battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. He faced his illness with grace, kindness, integrity, and bravery, enduring countless tests and uncertainties with unwavering strength.

Born on April 17, 1978, in Houston, Texas, Kris was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, and friend. Above all else, he was a man of deep faith. His Christian beliefs guided every aspect of his life, shaping the way he treated others and the values he instilled in his family. He spent his life in the same area he and Kim chose to raise their family. He was a Stratford High School alumni, Class of 1996, a cheerleader and a member of the Stratford Playhouse where his daughters followed in his footsteps many years later, developing deep roots and a multitude of memories and funny stories in this community. He spent countless hours studying the Bible and sharing its teachings with his daughters through nightly Bible studies, ensuring they developed a love for God’s word and trust in His promises.

Kris shared a beautiful life with his wife, Kim Whitton, and was an incredible father to their daughters Kerri, Emma, and Peyton Whitton. His love for them was evident in everything he did. He was also a cherished son to Russ and Denise Whitton and a beloved brother to Kendra Folh and her husband Jim Folh and Keith Whitton. His extended family included his grandmother Barbara Whitton; uncle Bill Whitton and aunt Aniko Nelson; cousin Will Whitton; nieces Melody, Addison, and Ella Whitton; Jordyn and Kamryn Folh; nephews Jacob, and Jackson Folh; grand niece Kaley Limbrick. He was predeceased by his mother Kerry Keyser, his grandmother Dayna Guidry, grandfather William “Bill” Keyser and grandfather William “Bill” Whitton.

Kris had an insatiable curiosity for learning new skills and hobbies. Over the years, he mastered woodworking—building furniture with precision—and took pride in maintaining a lush garden. A true DIY handyman, he could fix anything around the house with ingenuity. His love for food and cooking began in his Nana MacKenzie’s kitchen and remained a lifelong passion. Whether experimenting with new recipes or hosting gatherings filled with laughter and music, Kris found joy in bringing people together. Music played a special role in his life as well; he even learned to play the banjo so he could share that experience with his brother.

Those who knew Kris will remember him for his infectious laughter, quick wit, and ability to make any situation more enjoyable. He was always up for an impromptu dessert run or shopping trip—often making it his mission to embarrass or entertain those around him with his signature snarky comments and big smile. His presence left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

A service honoring Kris’s life will be held on March 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Berachah Church, located at 2815 Sage Rd., Houston, TX 77056.

Kris’s legacy of love, faith, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.

2 Timothy 4:7

I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.
