One funny story I always think about when I was first getting to know KO is this one...  When I joined Zappos in Dec 2004, we were maybe 80-85 people in the office on Warm Springs. HR sat on the left side of the office space waaaayyyy in the back corner. And unfortunately for him, right next to us sat KO and the sys admin team - which I think was only Kris and one other person back then.

Important note, his desk was in a high wall cubicle so Jamie, Brandis and I never knew if he was there or not. 

Anywho, this was before I understood his job or e-commerce really and one very unusual day at work (ok, it was very common) we were busy working whilst also shopping on the site and making darn good use of our employee discount. All of a sudden the site went down! 

How annoying right? We were talking back and forth about the inconvenience to us and saying things like “oh the sites down, I wonder if anyone knows?” 

All of a sudden KO yells out from his cubicle, his tone full of disbelief, and said “uh yeah, I know. I'm working on it.” 

Because as I know now, if the site goes down for an e-commerce company that's $ down the drain every second. For months he mocked us about it. "Oh no, the sites down, I wonder if anyone knows."

But of course it was in his goofy, kind, KO way.
