I am just catching up to the news of Krista‘a passing. I am another one of her colleagues having met her while working on Indigenous programs. When I returned to work at what is now Indigenous Services Canada she welcomed me and organized a lunch time walk along the river so we could get to know each other. I enjoyed following her move to Nunavut and her Northern adventures. She left us too soon and will be missed by friends and colleagues. My sincere condolences

My condolences to Krista's family. I first met Krista when I was working as a student in government and we would often talk about my studies and how I was balancing work and school responsibilities. Krista was always keen to put the people around her first and to make sure they felt comfortable and welcome on her team. She often went beyond her role as my boss and really made me feel welcome as a public servant and as a person. She is greatly missed.

I would like to express my sincerest condolences to Krista's dear family and friends. Some of my fondest memories of working in Northern Affairs include Krista providing mentorship and telling me stories about her early days in the public service (she had some funny ones). I will always appreciate her advice and kindness to me as a junior employee trying to find my way in the public service. She was a genuine, understanding, and inclusive leader and will truly be missed.

A huge loss to coworkers and stakeholders. Krista brought her all to her work everyday in service of Canada. Focused, determined and always going the extra mile - Krista was the ultimate public servant. During her career journey - she decided to lend her talents to the North - and with that her passion followed. The result was a connection and bond that will always be remembered through her accomplishments and the team she built. Krista will be missed but never forgotten.

My sincere condolences to Geoff, Krista’s family, friends and colleagues.
I had the pleasure of working with Krista for over a decade. She always exemplified excellence and an unwavering desire to improve the circumstances of Canadians, Northerners and Indigenous people. She was a passionate, dedicated, smart and extremely well-liked team member and will be sorely missed.

Assistant Deputy Minister

Krista was such a supportive colleague with the board on which we volunteered. She was smart--knew her stuff--sassy, a strong life force, but also so incredibly kind. I knew her for 11 months, meeting her on Zoom or chatting via phone--finally met her in person in February. She became a friend--I miss her, and value the honour of her friendship that she extended to me.

I am so sorry for your lost. I worked for Krista for three years. She was a wonderful and caring person, a great boss that took care of her employees, a passionate person that was interested in arts and crafts, cooking, books and the Canadian North. What I will miss the most is her laughter which was like a ray of sunshine.

When I was a fresh face in Northern Affairs, for about a year Krista always went out of her way to stop by and chat about policy, politics, academia, and the North. She was refreshingly open and always a conversational delight - lively, intelligent, and endlessly fascinating. Our conversations inevitably ended with good, deep laughter in addition to a deeper understanding of the subjects Krista was contemplating. The public service has lost a bright spark.

Krista was an inspiring person, an amazing colleague and friend, and a leader among leaders. Her booming laughter was infectious, endearing, and drew people in. She made hard work fun and interesting. She will be missed dearly - Maria

I had the pleasure of working with Krista and her team on interdepartmental files & from the first time I met her, I found her to be so inspiring. What a sad loss for the federal public service.

I met Krista via the Arctic Security Working Group and was excited to be joining CIRNAC when she moved North as I hoped it might mean our paths would continue to cross... I have been quite inspired by her work and have appreciated her time and insight over the years. My thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time. She will be missed.

Oh my dear Krista, you will never know the impact you had on those around you. I will take the time to remind my loved ones that I appreciate their presence because, to quote Krista,“briefing notes don’t love you back.”
