Krassimira's obituary
Artist and teacher Krassimira Petrova passed away on September 11, 2021, at the age of 63 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Krassimira’s love of life will endure. She was creative from a very young age, completed a degree in art and teaching in Bulgaria, and spent many years bringing her passion for art to her students, winning numerous awards along the way. Her focus wasn’t on teaching kids how to paint but rather on how art can bring beauty and peace to their lives.
Krassimira moved with her husband and daughter to the United States in 1990 to start a new life and provide more opportunities for her family. To everyone that knew her, she was a powerful presence — a kind and generous person, whose beautiful soul touched so many people around her. She was always helping — whether it was her community, local schools, friends or someone in need — and that brought her the most joy.
She could be frequently found painting or dancing around the house while listening to Kenny G or Andrea Bocelli, and loved to create and share that beauty with others.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Kris. She loved being surrounded by family or friends with a cappuccino in her hand. She loved to travel, experience different cultures, read, tend to her garden, and spend quality time with her daughters. A very spiritual person, Kris found beauty all around her, and her essence was reflected in her love of colors — from her bold and stylish clothes to her artistic creations.
Kris had an uncanny ability to bring laughter to those around her. Her passion for life was contagious, and her fighting spirit was an inspiration. Kris is survived by her husband Galab, daughters Ventsi (Brent) and Lauren, sister Marusia, and nephews Yavor and Yasen.
