Kozette's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Kozette Kozielski Walker on May 4, 2023. Kozette was born on October 18, 1944, throughout her life, she was lovingly known as "Kozy" and “KoKo.”  She was a loving mother, grandmother, dedicated sister, devoted friend and an inspiration to everyone she encountered.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kirby and Sophie Kozielski; sister Laura Swift; brothers Billy and Walter Kozielski.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her three children, Johnny (Sheri) Walker, Danny (Dede) Walker and Sherry (Tanner) Sumners; nine grandchildren, Erica, Madelyn, Gracie, John Paul, Emme, Grayson, Joseph, John Tanner, and Walker and 1 great grandchild, Jeremiah; brothers, Toni (Jane) and Eddie (Debbie) Kozielski, and sister Ida Slaton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she was a resolute believer in the importance of having a strong and supportive family bond. The best lesson she shared was that family always comes first. She constantly demonstrated this through her actions and relationships with those she loved. Koko loved spaghetti Sunday at Mamaw and Papaw's; a tradition she continued for many years. She especially loved when her children's families would vacation together, making memories to last a lifetime.

One of Kozy's proudest accomplishments was being crowned Homecoming Queen, a testament to her radiant personality and the warm connections she formed with those around her. Kozy's heart was always full of kindness and generosity, touching the lives of many and leaving a lasting impact.  This was demonstrated through the volunteer work she did at St. Vincent’s DePaul.

As we mourn the loss of Kozette "KoKo" Walker, we can take solace in the wonderful memories she leaves behind and the lessons she imparted on us. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May we all strive to honor her memory by living the values she held dear.

Rest in peace KoKo. You will be deeply missed; your love will always fill our hearts.

The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic School Chapel on 1501 VFW Road, at 2:00pm, Saturday, May 20, 2023.
