Kody's obituary
Kody Don Lee was born on February 23, 1999 in Vancouver, Washington, and unexpectedly left us on May 6, 2023 near Goldendale, Washington. He was 24 years old. He is survived by his mother, Melody Brunmeier; his father, Randy Lee; and his sister, Shelby Morse (Bryce Morse), who all love and will greatly miss him.
Kody was a kind and generous man who loved a great adventure. His laugh was infectious, and you couldn’t help but smile back when he gave you his classic smirk (head shake duo). He loved animals and had a special connection with his dogs Kya and Jane. He was an avid fisherman and always loved the water from a young age. He could be found in the boat tying fishing knots by age 5, and in more recent years spent much of his free time in his own boat exploring new fishing spots and teaching his friends and family the art.
He could be stubborn, but because of this he never lowered his standards and stayed true to who he was. He knew how to stand up for himself and others and was a protector of all who needed strength. His adherence to his ideals and the love and compassion he showed those around him inspired many.
Growing up he was a force on the soccer field and mountain bike trails. He was fearless on a dirt bike and was always willing to take the hook out of a fish’s mouth for his sister. He was a captivating story teller, his family recalls many tales told on road trips that made them laugh until their faces hurt.
Kody was a loving son. He confided in his mother. They had a special communication and connection that only they knew. He was very helpful to her. He was his dad’s right hand man whenever he needed help with anything. They shared a quiet bond of respect. Kody wanted to make both of them proud.
Kody was a loyal and trustworthy brother. He always had his sister’s back and was there for her whenever she needed it.
Kody loved to spend time with his friends and loved them like they were family. He would often brag about their accomplishments and his genuine pride in them was a beautiful thing to see.
Kody was always trying new things and becoming an expert at a new hobby. He was a self-taught guitar player, excellent fly tier, mechanic, gamer, and an amazing cook. He loved music and could be found just about anywhere with his boombox style speaker.
Kody worked in the plumbing industry and was a skilled craftsman. His passion for the work and his drive to succeed were evident in the way he spoke of his trade. He aspired to be one of the best in his field and a valuable asset to his employer. He was preparing to start his Apprenticeship to become a Journeyman.
Like all of us, he had his struggles. In spite of his own trials, he always worked towards a brighter future and strived to be better for himself and for others. Kody was simultaneously an enigma and an open book. He was self-motivated and walked his own path. All who knew him were made better for it.
On the day he passed, Kody stopped to take pictures of the Klickitat River Valley. Though we will always remember this as the site where his accident occurred, it brings a certain amount of peace to know that he was appreciating a beautiful place that he loved.
