Kirk's obituary
Kirk Thomas Watson, 42, passed away on March 26, 2025, in Asheville, North Carolina.
Born on June 12, 1982, in Texas, Kirk lived a life marked by creativity, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for meaningful connection. He channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into founding and running his own software development company, where he brought innovation and dedication to every project he touched. Never one to rest on past accomplishments, Kirk was also pursuing a new path at the time of his passing—studying to become a counselor through Lenoir-Rhyne University. He was actively engaged in his practicum at MAHEC, demonstrating his commitment to helping others through compassionate care and thoughtful insight.
Kirk was an avid enjoyer of life who embraced each moment with enthusiasm and intention. Whether immersed in music—both by creating and listening—or dancing with abandon into the early hours of the morning, he found joy in expression and movement. His love for food was equally passionate; he relished both cooking and eating with gusto. Known especially for his barbeque skills, Kirk could grill meat with the finesse of a world-star chef, turning meals into memorable gatherings.
He also delighted in deep conversation, often engaging those around him in thoughtful dialogue that reflected his intellectual depth and genuine interest in others. For Kirk, life was not just about experiences—it was about sharing them fully with those around him.
He is survived by his elder brother, Cliff, his parents, Karen and Thomas, as well as numerous members of his "chosen family", including his sister Alexa.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire lives filled with purpose, passion, and connection.
