Kirk W. Bennett

1946-2021

Kirk William Bennett, age 75, passed away on July 2, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents Thelma Gladwin and Orville Bennett; and his wife of 31 years, Pamela Bennett. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Marilynn Bennett; his sister, Sandra Maraldo (Chuck); two daughters, Melissa Ulibarri and Leesa Bollinger (Michael); two sons, Miles Bennett (Lisa) and Michael Bennett (Melody); ten grandchildren, Aiden, Peyton, Aubree, Abbie, Allie, Tracy, Everett, Summer, Ashton, and Sophie; and stepchildren Corey Leavenworth, Melinda Dramer, Melissa Caudle, Marni Jensen, and Cameron Leavenworth.

Kirk was born on March 20, 1946, in Pocatello, Idaho. After serving an LDS mission in Scotland, he married his high school sweetheart, Pamela, and attended the University of Idaho and Utah where he obtained degrees in Accounting and Law, respectively. He ran his business practicing law for over 47 years, experiencing his fair share of ups and downs, but making numerous friends along the way. He loved to read biographies and discuss the trials and triumphs of historical figures. He truly believed that there was always more to a story, which may be why he would always say "there's no pancake so thin it doesn't have two sides." He truly loved listening to people's stories, without judgment, and learning new things.

Kirk worked hard to ensure his kids could participate in all the extracurricular activities they wanted. Whether it was taking the boys to ice hockey tournaments in various states, or watching his girls at dance and cheer competitions, he was thrilled to do it.

When Kirk lost his sweetheart to breast cancer in 2001, he was fortunate to find love again when he met and married Marilynn. They spent his final 20 years together, including his final few years as a happily retired couple in Oregon. He will be missed but his faith and kindness will live on with those of us fortunate enough to have been part of his life.

Kirk never liked being the center of attention and, per his wishes, there will be no services. However, if you would like to pay tribute to him and speak with Marilynn, there will be an open house from 3-6pm on Sunday, July 18 at 3112 W. 7325 S., West Jordan, Utah.
