Kipling's obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the transition of Kipling "Kip" Watson, who left us peacefully on August 1, 2023. He was born on June 12, 1944 to his beloved mother Claris Coley and father Samuel Watson. Kip was known by many for his warmth, determination, and enduring strength. His jovial personality and natural ability to make people laugh will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him.
Known by those closest to him as Kip, he was a man of many passions. Music was a major part of his life. As a former DJ and vinyl collector, old-school reggae brought him immense joy. Kip was also an avid player of dominoes, a game that was close to his heart and often brought friends and family together. He worked in hospitality for decades at the French Lick Springs Resort in French Lick, IN and later at Oceanwalk Resort in Daytona Beach, FL where he was well-known for his kind disposition, sense of humor, and ability to make everyone he encountered feel uniquely valuable. Throughout his life, Kip always emphasized the importance of perseverance with impactful lessons and could often be heard encouraging those around him with mantras: "never give up," "don't worry - be happy."
Kipling's favorite vacation spot was his home island of Jamaica, a place where he felt most at peace. He had a deep love for his roots and relished every opportunity to bask in the vibrant culture of the island where he was raised.
Despite his many personal interests, Kipling's greatest accomplishment in life was his family, who he cherished above all else. He is cherished by his wife of 36 years Angela, his daughters: Ann Marie, Cassandra, Nneka, Khiana, Natalie, his sons: Michael, Andrew, Dean, and Adron, his siblings: Calvin, Paulette, Tony, Tim, Barry, Cheryl, 17 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Kip Watson leaves behind a legacy of kindness, courage, and generosity that will continue as long as time. Those who were fortunate enough to have known him were touched by his unrivaled kindness and unwavering courage. His spirit of generosity extended beyond his immediate circle, deeply impacting the lives of many.
