Kingsley's obituary
Kingsley “Little Man” Geddes passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, in Plantation, Florida. Born to Osman Geddes and Hilda McClean in Smithville, Clarendon, Jamaica. He was the second of four children, with two siblings who have preceded him in passing. From a young age, Kingsley earned the affectionate nickname “Little Man” from his community, a name that followed him throughout his life in both Jamaica and abroad. He gained this title early on as he took on the role of caretaker for his younger siblings when their mother moved to England.
In 1957, Kingsley migrated to England in search of new opportunities, and a year later, in 1958, he met and married the love of his life, Isola Watt, a talented seamstress. Together, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and family. In 1979, Kingsley and his family moved to the United States, settling in Florida, where he continued his career as a skilled sheet metal welder. Over the course of 30 years, his craftsmanship and dedication to his trade were evident in the many custom pieces he created for his home and loved ones.
Beyond his work, Kingsley was a man of strong will, charm, and an unwavering commitment to family. His home was a haven of warmth and hospitality, a place where family and friends were always welcome. Whether it was hosting visiting relatives, providing a place to stay for those pursuing their studies, or simply gathering loved ones for a backyard barbecue, Kingsley embodied the spirit of generosity. His home flourished with a lush Caribbean garden, boasting mango trees, soursop, ackee, banana, pineapples, and aloe vera—each plant a reflection of his deep-rooted connection to his Jamaican heritage.
Kingsley lived a life of dedication and passion, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew him. His legacy of love, strength, and hospitality will endure in the hearts of those he touched. He will be deeply missed by his sister, Juliette; his sons, Patrick, Roy and his wife Dawn, and Felix; his grandchildren, Samantha, Leona, Kingsley, Kristal, Quincy, Laura, Devon, and Laina; his great-grandchildren, Hailey, Myles, Dylan, Avery, Keston, Santiago, and Gabriel; his nieces and nephews; and the many friends and extended family members whose lives he touched. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to live on in the countless memories he created and the love he shared.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life during a memorial service at First Baptist Church of Plantation, located at 150 NW 46th Ave, Plantation, FL 33317, on March 15, 2025, 11:00 AM followed by a Repast.
Kingsley Geddes' legacy of love, dedication, and will continue to resonate within the hearts of his family and the broader community. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will always be celebrated.
May he rest in eternal peace.
