Kimberly was born on April 20th, 1958 to Earl and Sally Findsen in Richfield, MN. After graduating from Richfield High School in 1976, she went on to study psychology and early childhood education at Bemidji State University.

Her early years of providing care for hundreds of children through her home daycare service, she was known to many as "Momma Kim."

After 16 years in childcare, Kim went back to college to obtain her BA degree in non-profit marketing and communications management at Metropolitan State University and transitioned to life in the non-profit sector, still working for children.

Around this time, she met her partner in life, Bruce Petersen, and married November 26, 2004.

She was a passionate friend. Throughout her years making lifelong connections she met various friends while at elementary/high school, daycare parents, bowling league teammates, happy hour friends, many camping friends and many more. She loved spending time with her friends and family enjoying live music, going out to eat, heading up to the lake to float during girls weekends, camping up North at her favorite (and many) state parks and much more. She loved traveling with her husband seeing the United States in their RV camper and visiting friends.

Kimberly was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Sally, her sisters Mitzi Dunn and Judy Keough, along with other close friends and family. The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Bethel's Rock Church no earlier than Wednesday, March 11th. On Thursday, March 12th, there will be a visitation starting at 2pm followed by a memorial service at 3pm at Bethel's Rock Church in Richfield, MN. A celebration of life service with a meal will follow at 5pm at the Richfield VFW #5555.
