On the morning of August 23, 2020, Kimberly Jane (Thompson) Jefferson of Schenectady, NY, passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Kimberly was born on January 23, 1962, in Gloversville, NY, the fifth child of Charles Harry Thompson, Sr. and Elnora Delores (Wallace) Thompson. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend whose light touched every life she encountered.
Predeceased by her parents and two siblings, Charles Harry Thompson, Jr. and Donna Lorraine Thompson, Kimberly’s memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A proud graduate of Gloversville High School, Class of 1980, Kimberly went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University at Albany. She dedicated 32 years of compassionate service to the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, leaving behind a legacy of advocacy, integrity, and heart.
Kimberly was truly love personified. She never met a stranger and carried a warmth that made everyone feel at home. Her zest for life led her on countless adventures, from Caribbean cruises to jazz festivals, always accompanied by her cherished travel companions, Deborah Fischer and her sister, Pamela Dunbar. Few knew that behind her radiant smile was an avid drummer whose rhythm could captivate any room.
She is survived by her devoted long-time companion, Anthony Wynn; siblings, Pamela Dunbar and Wayne Thompson; daughters, Jolie Marie Halsey (Roderick Halsey) and Monet India Thompson; and six beloved grandchildren: Anjolique Thompson, Shmayah Halsey, Anah Halsey, Nataniel Halsey, Tephirah Halsey, and Kaeden Thompson.
