Background
My mother was not able to be there for me when I was a child. She was the victim of a very abusive spouse and turned to drugs to deal with the trauma. She spent the majority of my youth in prison. When she was released she went back to drugs but I didn't give up the hope she would turn her life around and we would develop the relationship we missed out on for so long. Mom tried to overcome her addiction but it always got the best of her. I never lost hope. I loved my mother despite everything. Unfortunately she succumbed to the drugs today. I want to be able to give her a memorial service but she had no insurance. I also will need to travel to get to her in a different state.
