Kimberley's obituary

Kimberley Anne Leverett Laraway was born in Lubbock, TX on Aug 31 1956 and adopted days later by Jean and Calvin Leverett, also of Lubbock, to complete their family. She died Oct 11 2025 in Hiawatha, IA at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House after a courageous and Christ-centered battle with breast cancer. She will be remembered at a Celebration of Life at Cedar Valley Bible Church (3636 Cottage Grove Ave SE, Cedar Rapids IA) on Saturday, Oct 25th at 11:00 AM.

She grew up in Lubbock, where she met her lifelong very best friend, Betsy Brown (nee Graham) and attended Trinity Baptist Church. She graduated from Monterey High School and Texas Tech University and ultimately moved to Fort Worth, TX for work. While living in DFW, she met Tom Laraway of Jamestown, ND, whom she married on March 9, 1985. Later that year, they moved to Marion, IA, where Tom and Kim resided for the rest of her life. For many years, she was active in Cedar Valley Bible Church and Christian School, frequently found at sporting events, plays, and helping out with any activity in which her kids participated. She hosted and taught Vacation Bible School and was encouraged by many Bible study groups. She was lovingly nicknamed "Mamma Laraway" by students at Cedar Valley for years. She loved crafting and made beautiful crochet, cross-stitch, and homemade jewelry projects, usually as gifts. She had an impressive collection of snowman decorations, as she fell in love with them after moving to Iowa and making her first snowman. She filled her home with warmth and love, and she made everyone feel welcome, always.

Kim is survived by her husband Tom and her children, Keenan and Melia Laraway as well as her sister-in-love Julie Herrin, uncle Dennis (Linda) Crisp, and her dear friends Mark and Mary Reinhart, whose friendship and encouragement meant so much to Kim and the family throughout her fight with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Jean Leverett and R.L. "Tex" and Janie Herrin, as well as her sisters-in-love Mabel Lee Woodard, Mildred (Horace) Tyree, and Phyllis (Kiko) Obregon, and her brother-in-love Robert (Josie) Herrin.

In lieu of flowers, Kim asked that you consider supporting Bridgehaven Pregnancy Support Center (Cedar Rapids, IA) or the Wounded Warrior Project. Kim's fervent hope was that all would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as Savior and that they would find the peace that comes from knowing Him.
