Obituary for a Queen
The “OG Detroit Lion” Kim Ramona Willis-Lawson (forever in our hearts and with God) has ended her time on this Earth. Kim Ramona Willis-Lawson passed away June 27, 2022 in the very early morning hours with her husband Scott at her side. At UMC Medical Center IMC in Las Vegas,NV. She was just 62 years old within 49 days of her 63rd birthday. Her battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed her courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Kim had the heart of a lion and stayed strong until the end.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Ranger WIllis and Ollie Ruth Willis on August 15, 1959. She was the third born or middle child of five little ladies (Rayshell, Legoldia, Kim, Tammy, Faith). Her father was a Master Sergeant in the Air Force and facilitated her gaining a love for new locations and travel. From Florida to California to Nevada to Nebraska she chased the sun until Las Vegas called her back home. All who knew Kim know she was literally all heart, and smiled with the authority of a woman who knew her place in the world. She was a leader, a trainer, and a friend who would drop everything for those she considered friends and family.
Kim loved creating in the kitchen. Family recipes combined and made magic with her ever expanding arsenal of creative kitchen fare. Every holiday was an occasion to gather and enjoy her famous fried corn, apple pie, peach cobbler or vegetarian meatloaf. She was literally a kitchen goddess!
As she moved into retirement from her retail management career, she began to look to volunteer work and causes that represented her. Moving between her cafe the Kwik Cup cafe and soup kitchen volunteer work she stayed busy. Doing volunteer work and working closely with the “National Federation for the Blind” she traveled to speak on their behalf. As her vision waned she just appeared to get stronger. This was always supported by her reminding others “We walk by faith not by sight”, in her faith she was an unshakable, and joining Word Of Life Christian Center, provided her a home for her faithful heart.
Kim is survived by her husband Scott, her daughters Aysha, Rhami, and Satrice, oldest sister Rayshell, youngest sister Faith and grandchildren Adrienne and Laurent and all others who were touched by her incredibly energetic presence and character. From Coast to Coast she will be missed.
