Kim's obituary
Kim Renee' Johnston (Anderson) (Richards) (age 42) born in Jerome, Idaho on August 21, 1983 died on November 6, 2025 in Boise, Idaho.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Johnston, her three children; Autumn Rojas, Kylee Anderson, and Caleb Anderson, her father and stepmother, Duane and Linda Richards, her mother, Peg Richards, her sibling, Justin Richards, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was proceeded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents as well as aunts and uncles and cousins, and her grandson.
When Kim was growing up, she was an average kid, who laughed and played and man did she love sleepovers … she always had a friend over. For one birthday party we filled a 10X30 foot dining/living room with sleeping bags and ten girls, for her 10th birthday we had 8-10 girls in a large tent in the backyard.
She played the flute in junior high school; she was very good. When she was 15 years old, she gave birth to her first daughter and she loved that girl. Kim was told she wouldn’t make it as a teen mom, but she graduated high school a year early, received the Mayor’s City award and proceeded right into college because she was going to be a lawyer. She registered for political science and she really struggled, after the first year she moved over to a vo-tech legal secretary program and it really clicked. Before we knew it, she was a paralegal at a law firm, married with another daughter and a son. And she was ten credits away from that poly sci degree.
All this time was filled with friends, family, softball games, BBQs, dance, get-togethers, traditions, and new adventures. It was the picture-perfect life.
Then in her mid-twenties, Kim had an elective surgery called gastric bypass surgery that went bad. She began experiencing so much pain, she could no longer function in any normal capacity. From that moment Kim struggled with multiple health issues including physical and mental health. Kim made several choices that changed the course of all our lives and here we are and Kim has passed.
Kim will remain in our hearts long after the day she passed. We as family and friends ask that you remember the special smile, the desire to get better, and the times you hold dear.
Thank you to everyone you has given and supported our giving campaign for her service and burial, and to the staff at St. Alphonsus ICU for their personal care.
A service will be held at Boise First United Christ Church, 2201 Woodlawn Ave., Boise, Idaho on Sunday, December 7th at 3:00 p.m. The family will provide drinks and a main dish, we ask those in attendance to bring a side dish, appetizer, or dessert so we can do one more get-together and celebrate the woman we all loved and will miss deeply.
