Kevin's obituary

Kevin Smith, 62, of Martinez, CA, passed away on January 25, 2023 after a vigorous battle with ALS, surrounded by his family.

Kevin was born on November 18th, 1960 in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating high school from Skyline in Oakland, CA (skipping the 10th grade) at 16 in 1976. He went on to join the US NAVY. After finishing from the Navy, he went on to receive his Bachelors degree at John F Kennedy. He then landed one of his first jobs for Wells Fargo and ended up working there for 13 years.

In year 1986, he met Tracey McIntyre, and they wed in 1992, going on to have three boys, Justin, Devin & Camrin. Kevin was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned to others. He was unendingly proud of his sons, always tried his best to support them as much as he could. Kevin was also a passionate reader, avid chess player and could often be found playing or watching basketball. Anyone who knew Kevin knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for.

Kevin was a caring father, husband, brother, uncle and friend to everyone. Kevin loved sports, especially basketball, where his favorite team was the Los Angeles Lakers. He spent his free time watching and coaching his sons play various sports. He also enjoyed going to the movies and reading during his free time. Kevin was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects, times of struggle and whenever someone needed a shoulder to lean on.

A special thank you to the people at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek for their loving care and support during his final weeks and days.
