Kevin's obituary

Kevin McGinness, 58, of Russellville, KY, passed away on September 28, 2024, at 1 PM. Born on February 6, 1966, Kevin lived a life filled with adventure, passion, and the kind of spirit that could never be tamed.

A true free spirit, Kevin was an adrenaline junky who embraced life to the fullest. He found joy in riding motorcycles, especially his beloved fire engine red Kawasaki Eliminator. He loved KISS and one of his most cherished memories was taking his only daughter to see them live for her first concert. A die-hard Raiders fan, he enjoyed cheering for his team and could often be found watching custom car and motorcycle shows, lost in the thrill of the automotive world. Kevin enjoyed being a member of the Elks Lodge in Charleston as well as being a great chef at Café Alexander and the Eagles and Elks Clubs.

Kevin graduated from Charleston High School as part of the Class of 1984 and attended Lake Land College in Mattoon Illinois and Le Cordon Blue College of Culinary Arts in Chicago Illinois. Friends remember him as a remarkable individual, exuding the coolness of Fonzy paired with the kindness of a saint. He became a husband and Dad on December 22, 2000. His infectious laughter and generous heart touched many lives, and he created lasting relationships during his years at the RR Donnelley manufacturing plant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Leslee McGinness. Kevin is survived by his two brothers, Lance (Vicki) and Tim (Debbie) McGinness; his lifelong friend and ex-wife, Sara Potter; his daughter, Kyrie Carf (Alan); and his four cherished grandchildren, Edwin C. Tristan, Kaydin I. Tristan, Kitara A. Carf, and Evangeline A. Carf.

Kevin will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was both a wild man and a family man, a joker, a smoker, and a midnight toker. As he rides off on his motorcycle into the sunset, his legacy of love, laughter, and a zest for life will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He did not want his loved one’s mourning at a funeral service, instead, raise a glass and toast him riding his motorcycle on those heavenly highways.

In place of service’s remembrances may be sent to Creekwood Nursing & Rehabilitation at 107 Boyles Drive, Russellville Kentucky 42276. info@creekwoodnr.com. 270-726-9049.
