Kevin's obituary
It’s with deep sadness that we share that Kevin Matthew Roberts - son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend to many and, recently, a grandfather - passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in his home in the Charleston, South Carolina area.
Born November 14, 1964, in Toledo, OH, to Nancy and Richard Roberts, who preceded him in death along with his brother, Chris - he will be greatly remembered and missed by his daughters, siblings, many nieces and nephews, and his first grandson, who was born earlier this year.
In addition to being a funny, kind, and generous soul, he was also a super sick, cool, groovy guy. He loved music, amassing a huge library of various genres - ready to share his newest discovery or his faves, often eliciting impromptu dance parties in the kitchen.
Kevin has been described as a lighthouse - his attention and laughter shining fully and brightly on you and then to the next person who his light touched.
Kevin always had his eye on being of service to others – he was someone who gave far more than he ever took. Sharing recipes (and music!) and creating dishes for friends and family was his love language. He would offer meals to neighbors and strangers alike, making sure everyone was taken care of. He was always one to swing into the store to grab a meal for a person in need. He often said that if he were to win the lottery, he’d spend it on helping the homeless on the West Coast.
Please keep his four daughters—whom he loved deeply—in your thoughts as they navigate their future without him. If you’re lucky enough to have siblings, or friends you grew up with—reach out. Say hello. Laugh about old stories.
If you have a favorite story, memories, or photos of your time with Kevin, you can share here. These will be priceless gifts that we can continue to look back on.
In lieu of flowers or gifts - we would love to help his lottery dream come true.
