Kevin's obituary
Kevin John Kliarsky of Wadsworth, IL, was taken by angels while he slept, on May 14, 2021 at the age of 69. It was his time to begin another journey.
He was born on January 3, 1952 in Jamaica, NY. and lived in NY until 1963, when he moved with his family to IL. He attended junior high and high school in Libertyville. He resided in IL until his death.
He is survived by his twin sister, Karen, brother Danny; his nephews Adam (Petra), and Spencer; nieces Lia (Matt Krueger), Angela (Hunter) Daveler, and Samantha; great-nephew Andrew, and two great-nieces, Alina and Eloise. He was preceded in death by his mother Georgiana (Kliarsky) Newman, in 2000, and his father, William Kliarsky, in 1975.
Kevin leaves behind a legacy of good friends and many, many good memories. He believed in loyalty and honesty. He was a kind and generous man with a hearty laugh. Kevin loved his little cat and years after she died, he still grieved. He never got over her death (remember that song Bojangles?).
For many years, he had a job as a truck / van driver, and made deliveries of goods throughout northern IL and all the way up to Madison, WI. He had a spiral-bound Chicagoland Atlas hardcover book as his bible which he kept with him while he was driving.
Kevin loved the Beatles. Most of all, he adored John Lennon, and kept a framed print on his wall of Lennon playing the piano. He loved Emmylou Harris as well.
He loved the great American muscle cars of the 60s and 70s.
He became a huge fan of the New York Yankees ever since he and Danny were kids, and our wonderful stepfather treated them to a home game at Yankee Stadium when Mickey Mantle was in his glory days. 1960. In later years when Kevin started collecting, his prize possession was a framed and signed jersey of Mickey Mantle. His friends might remember him as a diehard Yankee fan for life. When Kevin died, cigarette lighters with the Yankees logo were found in his belongings!
May you rest In peace, Kevin, with your beloved cat, and Mom, and who knows who else you might see along the way. "My heart breaks as you take your long journey. " (Taken from an old Appalachian folk song)
